About KKSCO

Khyndai Kyntoit Social and Cultural Organization (KKSCO) is a non-profit society registered on 5th January, 2005. The organization’s utmost concern is for the social and cultural development of the people especially the poorer section of our society. The organization strive towards the welfare of the people especially of the farming community and to bring about inclusive development through promotion of integrated livelihood. Over the years of working with the community KKSCO has made lots of impact through a wide range of activities in the region of East Khasi Hills, West Khasi Hills, Ribhoi and Jaintia Hills District of Meghalaya catering valuable services to the people especially to those in the rural areas. The work and activities of the organization is not limited to rural areas but it has stretched its developmental activities to urban poor as well especially through the various skill development programme for the urban unemployed youth of four districts. Given its credibility and experience, the organization can implement any project with success. 

ACTIVITIES AND IMPACT MADE BY THE ORGANISATION

The organization is striving towards attaining a sustainable integral rural development especially of the farming community, through vocational educational, socio-economic, cultural, environmental and human development as its priorities.  The following are some of the activities of the organization:
1)    Vocational training for the youth in different trades such as wireman, DTP, hardware and networking, fashion designing, photography and videography, beautician and cosmetology, mobile repairing, electronic assembling, food processing, and many others.
2)    We also run a Primary school for the children of Wahlang village
3)    A Hostel was set up for the poor children of the area.
4)    We have been conducting awareness programmes on various social issues especially those that are related to the farming community in villages
5)    Seminars and conference on the danger of deforestation, addiction to alcoholism, smoking, substance abuse, early marriage, modern methods of farming etc. had been conducted by KKSCO.
6)    Training programmes for the farmers on soil testing, bokashi piggery, poultry, as well as exposure visit programme to ICAR, RRTC, upper Shillong potato research centre, tree plantation, training on improved technology of farming, bank linkage, credit linkage, life insurance and others were done in collaboration with NABARD and other banks.
7)    Financial inclusion programme were conducted in unbanked area of East Khasi Hills, West Khasi Hills and Ri Bhoi District. Thousands of people had openned their account after the programme and hundreds had received the KCC loan from different banks.
8)    KKSCO has also been working very hard in forming SHGs, farmers club, JLG under the sponsorship of NABARD.
9)    Apart from these KKSCO also conducts various sports and cultural events for the school children as well as for the youth of the 3 region promoting the spirit of   sports and wellness etc.
10)    KKSCO was also the business correspondence (BC) of the State Bank of India. Two BC had been established one in Wahlang and the second one is in Garikhana. About 500 KCC (Kisan credit card) loan had been implemented through the SBI and account of more than 11 hundred had been opened till date. 
11)     KKSCO along with RBI (Shillong) MRB, MCAB, SBI and NABARD has travelled the length and breadth of the regions of Khasi, Jaintia, & Ri Bhoi for conducting financial literacy campaign. 
12)    KKSCO has also been interested in the environmental conservation activities and hence in collaboration with the Forest Department, JFMCs were formed and afforestation programmes were also conducted in the villages. 
13)    KKSCO also partnered with Foundation for MSME Cluster, Delhi for implementing the SDF funded and NABARD co-funded project on promoting integrated bamboo-based enterprise development among SAARC countries: India Component. 
The list of activities is not exhaustive and the organization has been closely working with the line departments as well to ensure that need based services are delivered to the farming community and the rural poor. 

CURRENT STRENGTH OF THE ORGANIZATION

The greatest strength of KKSCO is that it has a very committed and dedicated team that function within its structure. Its function and achievements is based entirely on team work and collaboration with various departments. The organization is partnering with NABARD, Agricultural Department of Meghalaya, Forest Department, ICAR, local NGOs, Bankers and various other civil societies for a wholesome approach of rural development. KKSCO looks forward towards furthering the collaboration and contribution of various agencies to meet the challenging task ahead for change and development in the lives of the poorer section of our society.
